BREATHTAKING ARDABIL RUG AT LA MUSEUM

by | Jun 30, 2011

A 16th century masterpiece, considered as one of the two greatest Persian rugs in existence, can be viewed this summer at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Here’s an article from the LA Times about this magical textile and some incredible photos.

At 800 knots per square inch, this rug has more than 35 million knots, all tied by hand, and over a period of several years by multiple weavers. Truly mesmerizing.

If you get a chance to visit, please do. They don’t bring this piece out very often to view.

I love rugs!
